Tracking
You can create any number of trackings, including ones that run at the same time.
You can create a tracking for the whole trip, for example, that runs continuously. At the same time you can create a tracking for a three-hour trail.
Clearly, for those three hours the two trackings will physically coincide. But they are different trackings, and the second one will contain only those three hours.
You can start and stop trackings. You create a tracking, then start it, and stop it when you need to. Later you can start it again.
Say you have several trails during a trip. You can create a tracking for each of them. But you can also create one overall tracking for the trails. You start it before each trail and stop it when the trail is over.
Set up that way, you can have three trackings running at once:
- a tracking for the whole trip;
- a tracking for this particular trail;
- an overall tracking for the trails.
In the video the user creates a tracking for the whole trip, one for trail no. 1 and one for all the trails. Then the user starts all three trackings, and then stops them all.
If at least one tracking is running, you will see a red button marked "ON" on the home screen.
Tracking only works while the app is running:
- if you minimise the app, tracking carries on;
- if you close the app, tracking stops;
- if you close the app while a tracking is running and then start it again, the tracking carries on.
Map and gallery
You can view a tracking on a map and as a gallery.
You can edit the name and change the cover photograph.
You can add photographs to the gallery and remove them.
You can add photographs to a tracking. If you use a mobile device running iOS, you can simply leave the "add photos automatically" checkbox ticked. Photographs you take while the tracking is running will then be added automatically.
You can of course edit the gallery at any time and remove anything you do not want.
On Android devices, unfortunately, photographs cannot be added automatically. It is technically possible, but Google has very strict rules about the arbitrary access to photos it grants to apps. Our app does not qualify for Google's permissions. But you can add photographs by hand on any device.
Note that mobile devices do not always add geographic coordinates to photographs. The permission is set in your device settings, and where it lives depends on the platform and the device. enot66 corrects the geolocation of photographs even when your device does not set it, but it is better to check the settings.
Export
You can export trackings to show them to your friends. You then get a link to the exported gallery. It is an ordinary link, looking roughly like enot66.com/r/erdfrd.
It can be opened in an ordinary browser. If your friends use the enot66 app, they can add the link under "Friends' trackings" and view the tracking inside the app.
Bear in mind that by exporting a tracking you make it potentially available to everyone on the Internet. Do not export trackings you would not want certain people to see.
You can of course delete both the local and the shared tracking at any time. If you delete a local tracking that has been shared, the shared one is deleted too.
A shared tracking has a slightly different "Share" icon. In the list of trackings you can see which ones are shared.
Platforms
You can install the app for iOS or Android, or use the website.
The website helps with planning only, because travel assistance depends on where you physically are, and people do not usually walk around holding a computer.
